Singer Kunmie from Nigeria teams up with Nigerian rapper Phyno for their relationship-themed single titled “5AM” before his forthcoming debut 22which drops on August 14, 2026.
On the record, Kunmie voices himself as being inside a dysfunctional love affair – where there’s room for both, love and annoyance – due to a misunderstanding made late in the night, which prompts him to question his communication, stubbornness and if love can carry two people together.
Phyno adds to the discussion from his perspective as well. Speaking in both, English and Igbo, he addresses skepticism, pains and the effort required to leave someone who is cherished still in his life.
The 5 A.M. Is a setting rather than just a title which places clarity to the song. We see an individual whom is still trying to understand the other when it is obvious by the 5 am time set, their argument should have already been finished.
